Just in time for this festive season, the new variants of world's iconic iPhone - the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C - will be officially available in the India starting Friday.
A couple of weeks ago, Apple Inc had announced that India will be getting the devices in the third wave, along with 15 other countries on November 1.
While the iPhones will be available at stores from November 2, some Apple fans will be able to buy it on Friday at the launch event scheduled in 10 different cities across the country. Unlike the midnight launch that was scheduled for the iPhone 4S launch in 2011, the new iPhones will be launched at 5 pm on Friday evening.
Launch events will be held in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Gurgaon and Kolkata.
Apple's distributor in India - Ingram Micro and Redington have given out coupons to the retailers for further distribution to customers buying the phones on the launch day, i.e. November 1 itself. Only those with coupons will get entry to the event and be able to make the purchase.
The Apple iPhone 5S will retail at Rs 53,500 for the 16GB variant, Rs 62,500 for 32GB and Rs 71,500 for the 64GB variant.
The iPhone 5C, which replaced the iPhone 5 globally, will be available at a slightly affordable price of Rs 41,900 for 16GB, compared to iPhone 5's 16GB model that was retailing at Rs 45,500. Apple has priced the 32GB variant of iPhone 5C at Rs 53,500.
Apple is also bringing the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C cases to India. The iPhone 5S cases will be available in beige, black, blue, brown, yellow and red for Rs 3,200 and the iPhone 5C cases will in blue, green, pink, yellow, black and white for Rs 2,300.
Apple will discontinue the sales of the iPhone 5. It has slashed the price of the iPhone 4s 8GB to Rs 31,500.
According to market reports, India will get limited stock of the iPhone 5S Gold variant. According to shop.airtel.com, the iPhone 5S is already out of stock. Reliance Communication is also coming up with special tariff plans for the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C launch.
