Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 Kids A Tablet For Kids

Teaching kids to share is much easier when you don't hide your tablet from their sticky fingers. Samsung today revealed that the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, designed for children and adults, will be available for pre-order starting Nov. 1.

With dual operating modes, parents can set their toddler up with 30 minutes of virtual game play, then return the slate to Standard mode to surf the Web, listen to music, or watch last week's episode of Boardwalk Empire.
The 7-inch tablet comes with parental controls, educational and entertainment apps, and kid-specific content, packed into a $230 device, which launching stores Nov. 10.

"Today's kids are incredibly tech-savvy and regularly use technology at home, at school and on-the-go," Nanda Ramachandran, vice president of Samsung Mobile emerging business, said in a statement. "The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is engaging, encourages learning and fosters creativity in a safe environment that parents can easily manage."

Don't worry about your kid running amok on the tablet: Parents have complete control over what apps and games are accessed, and can add new content based on their children's personalized wish list.

Plus, interactive features like adding stickers or costumes to photos come in handy with the 3-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front cam. The lightweight slate also comes with a bright, easy to hold (and even easier to find) orange case — for an additional $20.

First unveiled in late August, the kid-friendly device comes with Galaxy Perks, which include a $10 credit for apps, books, movies, and music in the Google Play store, as well as one year of free Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi access, three months of Hulu Plus membership, two years of up to 50GB of Dropbox storage, and more.
