Asaram Bapu has apparently confessed that he had actually touched the girl who has lodged a rape case against him. This confession came when he was being interrogated by the Gujarat police on Thursday.
Apparently, he could be heard outside the interrogation cell, crying and screaming loudly while he was answering the questions the police was asking him.
In light of his confessions on Thursday, the police is likely to question both Asaram and the victim all over again.
On Thursday, the police had tried a different tactic to question both the girl as well as Asaram: they were made to sit at opposite ends of the same room and questioned. The entire questioning was recorded on video.
During the questioning, the police found that as many as 18 people were involved, directly or indirectly, in bringing the girl to Asaram. The police is likely to arrest these 18 people as well.
Here are some of the questions that Asaram Bapu was asked during his questioning:
1. For how long have you known the girl?
Asaram: I don't remember exactly but the girl use to stay in my asharam as a devotee.
2. You asked the girl to become an orator. Why did you ask her to do this?
3. Why did you call the girl from your Surat ashram to your Ahmedabad ashram?
4. Was the girl ever beaten at your ashram?
5. The girl has alleged that after she was raped once, she refused to come to you alone when you called her and that you beat her up after that in the ashram.
6. Did you ask the girl to apply butter on her head?
7. Did you ever molest the girl?
Asaram: I had touched the girl once while I was alone but it was to give her mantras.
During his questioning, Asaram said that yes, he had touched the girl when they were alone and that he had called her to teach her some mantras.
